About this Portal

The Anti Entropy Resource Portal is a knowledge base project designed to gather and build resources for the operations side of running nonprofit organizations. As a cornerstone initiative of Anti Entropy, the Portal addresses common operational challenges faced by high-impact organizations.

The Anti Entropy Resource Portal represents a strategic response to operational challenges in the nonprofit sector, based on the understanding that providing quality resources is the most efficient way to support organizations in the short term.

Purpose and Design

The Resource Portal serves as a centralized hub of operational knowledge, specifically created to:

  • Provide easy access to resources that operations professionals know exist but struggle to locate
  • Increase bandwidth by reducing time wasted on redundant research and development in looking for resources that already exist
  • Remove operational bottlenecks so organizations can move forward efficiently
  • Develop stronger organizations that others can rely on for support

Content Philosophy

The Portal is intentionally designed with clarity and utility in mind:

  • Articles and guides are kept concise (typically under 250 or 500 words depending on content)
  • The number of versions is limited (usually just one) to prevent confusion
  • External reference links are carefully curated to include only top recommendations
  • Resources are thoroughly researched and vetted
  • All formats are maintained uniformly for consistency
  • Most Google Workspace items are view only with copy and print enabled.

This Portal is Not Intended to Be Exhaustive

The Anti Entropy Resource Portal prioritizes focus and clarity over comprehensive coverage. We limit versions (usually to one) and curate only top-recommended external resources to prevent information overload.

This approach helps operations professionals quickly find actionable solutions. By emphasizing quality over quantity, we provide well-researched resources addressing the most common operational challenges faced by nonprofits, helping organizations move forward efficiently while maintaining high standards of reliability.

Fundamentals of the Issue

The Reinvention of Ops Resources

  • Repetitive ask for the same or similar resources on Slack.
  • Difficulty locating resources ops community members know to exist.
  • Resources and materials are occasionally out of date.

Intended Impact

The short-term impact will be assisting target organizations with immediate needs.

The primary impact will be a stronger nonprofit ops community in the mid and long term.

Short-Term Organization Impact

  • Remove bottlenecks so orgs can move forward
  • Develop stronger orgs for other orgs to lean on.
  • Development of resources to increase bandwidth, which may currently be wasted on research and development.

Assumptions

  • Freeing up the bandwidth of current operations teams outweighs all other issues.
  • New human capital and the development of current human capital can not develop fast enough for the needs of constrained organizations.
  • The need for resources outweighs the need for training in the short term.
