About This Policy
This is a broad sample FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) policy that should be included in your Employee Handbook if you are covered under FMLA regulations.
This is NOT a complete FMLA policy. An internal HR policy that contains a full explanation of how your company will implement FMLA is recommended and needed. For more information, consider a review of the U.S. Department of Laborβs Employerβs Guide.
Who Needs This Policy
The FMLA applies to all public agencies, including local, State, and Federal employers; non-profit organizations; local education agencies; and private sector employers who employ 50 or more employees. Even if you do not employ 50 or more employees these are the basic and expected minimum guidelines for Family Medical Leave within the United States by employees, however, many companies go beyond these guidelines for the betterment of their employees.
